Reading a-z - Leveled, printable books to use in your various leveled, small groups.
ENVIRONMENT:
Guided Reading/Small Group Instruction can take place in different manners within your classroom.
Some teachers have a small table (kidney, rectangle, etc) where they hold sessions...others have sessions on rug on the floor. Materials are usually stored close to the teacher in drawers, boxes, baskets, etc.
*I liked to have a table that backed up to a whiteboard so I could use the board for instruction. I usually had 4 containers to store my 4 small groups instructional materials/leveled books in. I created 4 vocabulary lists...one for each group. It was made from a large piece of construction paper, titled Vocabulary Words at the top, then laminated so I could write on/wipe off. I always had lots of wipe-off markers, pencils, highlighters, white painters gloves for the students to use as erasers, sticky notes etc. I used ReadingA-Z a lot to obtain leveled readers for my groups. This company has a huge selection of books you can print off to use in class or send home.
Guided Reading/Small Group Instruction Time was my favorite part of my day!
